• Step-by-Step Installation Tutorial

Transform your countertops without demolition, dust, or full replacement.

This guide will walk you through the full countertop wrap installation process from prep to final trimming. Whether you’re a beginner DIYer or experienced installer, taking your time and following each step carefully will help you achieve the best results possible.

    Let’s get started.

  • Step 1 - Clean the Surface Thoroughly

Clean the entire countertop well using 70% isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

Make sure all grease, dust, oils, waxes, cleaners, and residue are removed before installation begins. Any contaminants left behind can affect adhesion.

Allow the surface to fully dry before moving to the next step.

  • Step 2 - Remove or Tape Off Obstacles

Remove or tape off anything the vinyl may stick to or catch on during installation.

    This may include:

    • Faucets
    • Sinks
    • Outlet covers
    • Trim pieces
    • Caulking edges
    • Raised seams or textured areas

Masking these areas helps prevent the vinyl from grabbing too early while positioning your panel.

  • Step 3 - Dry Fit Your Panel

Lay the vinyl panel onto the countertop before peeling any backing paper.

    Double check:

    • Overall sizing
    • Pattern direction
    • Overhang coverage
    • Sink placement
    • Backsplash alignment

Trim the panel down if needed, always leaving extra material for final trimming later.

Use painter’s tape to lightly secure the panel into position if needed.

  • Step 4 - Mark Trim Areas

Using a dry erase marker, mark any areas that will need trimming before installation begins.

    This may include:

    • Sink openings
    • Faucet holes
    • Tight corners
    • Wall edges
    • Outlets or obstacles

Planning ahead helps make installation smoother and prevents accidental over trimming.

  • Step 5 - Pre-Trim the Panel

Using a sharp breakaway knife and a fresh blade, carefully trim out marked areas.

    Always leave extra material.
You can trim more away later, but you cannot add material back once it’s removed.

Do not attempt final cuts during this step. This is only for rough trimming and relieving tension points.

  • Step 6 - Secure and Peel Back One Side

Once pre-trimmed, dry fit the panel one more time and tape it securely into place.

Peel back one side of the vinyl and trim away part of the backing paper. This allows you to begin installation gradually while keeping the panel aligned.

  • Step 7 - Trim Backing Paper.

Trim away part of the backing paper. This allows you to begin installation gradually while keeping the panel aligned.

  • Step 8 - Begin Squeegeeing the First Side

Using a squeegee at roughly a 45-degree angle, apply firm and even pressure while working the vinyl onto the surface.

Start from the center and work outward to minimize air bubbles.

    Slowly work the vinyl:

    • Into the sink area
    • Around faucet openings
    • Along edges and contours

Take your time in these tighter areas.

  • Step 9 - Apply the Second Half

Once the first side is properly positioned, peel back the remaining backing paper from the opposite side.

Bring the panel back over the surface and continue squeegeeing outward using even pressure.

    Continue carefully working:

    • Into sink areas
    • Around curves
    • Behind faucet locations
    • Toward all edges
  • Step 10 - Trim Out Sink

Trim out sink area lightly, make sure to leave material behind to be able to lift and tuck around the bottom or edge of the sink.

  • Step 11 - Tuck Around the Sink

Trim the sink opening slightly more, while still leaving enough material to lift, heat and tuck securely underneath or up to the sink edge.

Apply light heat to soften the vinyl, then use your squeegee to carefully work the material:

    • Under the sink lip
    • Against the sink edge
    • Into tight curves and corners

Avoid overheating. Use controlled heat and constant movement.

  • Step 12 - Final Sink Trim

Place your squeegee flat against the countertop and nestle it tightly against the sink edge or underneath the lip.

Rest your knife lightly against the squeegee and slowly guide it around the sink opening.

With a fresh blade, very little pressure is needed.

    Once trimmed:

    • Remove excess vinyl
    • Remove any remaining tape
    • Reheat the area lightly
    • Re-squeegee the vinyl for a secure finish
  • Step 13 - Trim Final Edges

Move to all outer edges and corners of the countertop.

    If needed:

    • Lift and re-squeegee areas
    • Apply light heat while working edges down
    • Remove remaining air pockets
    • Ensure all edges are fully adhered

Take extra care on corners and seams where tension is highest.

  • Step 14 - Trim Final Corners

Using a fresh blade, carefully trim all final edges.

    For corners:

    • Watch our tutorial videos for different corner techniques
    • Or wrap fully to one side, heat the vinyl, allow it to cool, then trim
    • Repeat the process on the opposite side if needed

Heating and allowing the vinyl to cool helps reduce memory and creates a cleaner long-term finish.

  • Step 15 - Apply back trim if needed.

Depending on your skill levels, you may have installed it all in one piece, otherwise go ahead and apply it. Heat, let cool, and trim to finish.

  • Final Tips

    • Always use fresh blades for cleaner cuts
    • Work slowly around sinks and corners
    • Use controlled heat — not excessive heat
    • Air-release vinyl allows trapped air to be pushed out during installation
    • If wrinkles appear, gently lift, heat, and reset the vinyl before continuing
    • Do not rush the prep process — proper prep is one of the biggest factors in a successful installation

We use professional-grade vinyl with protective laminate designed for durability and everyday use. This is not the thin shelf liner or low-tack contact paper commonly found in big box stores.

Our material is thicker, more durable, easier to reposition during install, and designed with air-release technology to help minimize bubbles.

  • es.

Our vinyl is removable when properly heated and removed carefully. This makes it a great option for:

    • Renters
    • Temporary spaces
    • Budget-friendly remodels
    • RVs and campers
    • Quick home updates

Removal conditions can vary depending on the original surface and how long the vinyl has been installed.
